Snap at the conference announced that it is testing lenses with power-ups. The developers have build Lenses with digital goods, and a user can purchase them with Snap Tokens. So, without further ado, let’s dig in to learn about Snap Lens fest and upcoming Snap products.
Everything About Fifth Snap Lens Fest
Snap held its annual lens fest conference. The conference was Snap’s fifth lens fest. The conference highlighted that Snap, on its platform, has 300,000 AR Creators now. The new major development is that AR creators and developers will build Lenses with digital goods, and a user can purchase them with Snap Tokens. Snap Tokens are a kind of currency that can be purchased within the Snapchat app. Snap Tokens can be purchased 80 Tokens for $0.99, 250 Tokens for $2.99, 500 Tokens for $4.99, or 1,100 Tokens for $9.99. To use the newly built Lenses on Snap, a user needs to purchase them with snap tokens. The users will then only have the ability to unlock power-ups, AR items, and extra tools within select Snap Lenses. According to the head of Snap’s global AR community efforts, Sophia Dominguez, “the company hand-selected 10 AR creators and developers for this pilot. For this initial roll out, Snap focused on three use cases for AR: self expression, fashion and play.” Sophia further added, “We’re exploring these digital goods as new ways for creators and developers to build businesses beyond creating Lenses for brands and clients. This is the very beginning and we’re excited to see how Snapchatters engage with it.” Apart from that, Snap also announced its new global “Lensathon” with a prize of $200,000, with creators having until January 31 to submit their lenses. In the new experiment, Walton is also a part and has already asked users about the enhancement that could be incorporated with the potato lens. Redeeming your snap tokens will let you turn the potato lens into many alterations, like a police officer, magician, cat, and more. Another lens that made noise for the right reasons is Table Trenches Lens which was developed by DB Creations.
