Alexa attempts to communicate with the user by changing the color of the Echo’s ring. The LED ring is on the top of an Echo Studio or an Echo Dot. When you communicate with Alexa, you may not observe the changing colors, but each color tells a story.
1. Solid Blue background with a tiny segment of Cyan
The light ring turns solid blue when you speak the wake word or manually wake Alexa. The small cyan sections indicate the direction of the person speaking.
2. Yellow Color
A notification or text is pending on your device if you see a slowly flashing yellow light. The yellow light could also indicate a forgotten reminder, so ask Alexa about any texts or notifications. Just ask, “What are my messages/notifications?” Users can also customize their notification preferences in the Alexa app’s settings
3. Orange Color
The teal light turns orange when your device is prepared for set up or attempting to connect to the internet.
4. Red Color
The red light indicates that the user turned on or off the camera/microphone. You must press it again to activate your camera or mic. This color also indicates any device malfunctions.
5. Green Color
When you see a flashing green light, prepare to get a call on your device. Once the device is on an engaged call, the green light spins.
6. Spinning Teal Color
The slow spinning teal and blue indicate that your device is booting up. If the device has not yet been configured, the lights change to orange when it is prepared for setup.
7. Purple Color
When the Do Not Disturb function is enabled, the light briefly turns purple after making a request. Purple indicates if there are any Wi-Fi issues during the initial device setup. Also, read 7 High-Tech Gadgets for Apartments in 2022 | Most Essential Items
8. White Color
When you control the volume on your device, white lights indicate the volume levels. An Alexa Guard in Away mode is indicated by a spinning white light. In the Alexa app, reset Alexa to Home mode.
9. Teal Spotlight Color:
This teal spotlight color you’ll see on your Echo device once Alexa is listening to you or responding to you.
How Do I Disable The Echo Light Ring?
There are times when you want to turn off the echo light ring completely. For instance, when working and needing to stay focused or when going to sleep. You’d appreciate not getting out of bed at 2:00 AM due to a random alert turning on the light ring, especially at night. You can almost turn them off in two ways. The first is to activate the “Do Not Disturb” mode. This mode disables all alerts for as long as you wish. Alexa and your Echo device are the second and most straightforward options. If the yellow color appears, simply ask “Alexa, read my messages” or “Alexa, show me the notifications” to remove it. Simply unmute the microphones to get rid of the red color.
